CORE Solutions ("CORE") is an interesting Hong Kong-grown IT success story. Founded in 1995 as a two-man-band IT consultancy, CORE has grown into a fully-fledged provider of comprehensive IT professional services with specialized capabilities in supply chain management, business intelligence, e-Government and financial services.
In addition, CORE has also emerged as a software product company. Having developed its own Business Transaction Management ("BTM") platform called iDEX, CORE provides powerful electronic transaction technology that automates inefficient, paper-based processes across organizational boundaries.
The company is headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in Shanghai and New York.

CORE's Business Transaction Management software product iDEX(tm) is a versatile transaction engine that has become a powerful tool in the areas of logistics and supply chain management. It is used by governments, multinational banks and logistics service providers to facilitate web-based transactions for all types of users (i.e. MNCs, SMEs and the general public). Built on the J2EE platform and offering native XML support, iDEX provides the flexibility for people and organizations, whether using EDI, XML or a web browser, to conduct transactions over the Internet efficiently and economically. Using UNICODE, iDEX also supports multilingual capabilities for cross-border transactions.
"iDEX helps organizations save money because it enables transactional applications to be easily set up and configured without the need for custom development," stated Ko. "New applications can be developed in days rather than months, greatly reducing time-to-market and providing essential flexibility. For end users, iDEX reduces processing costs. According to one of our customers, iDEX has helped save 40 to 50 percent of costs associated with their international trade processes."
Ko mentioned that iDEX was developed entirely in Hong Kong and has achieved commercial success in Asia, the United States and in the Middle East.
In addition to developing its own software, CORE partners with world-class IT companies to offer best-of-breed technology. However, the company remains technology neutral in order to provide customers with the most appropriate solution.
