Can Hydrogen Help Power Hong Kong's Greener Future?

Through HKGCC's Business Case Competition 2025/26, Towngas challenged university students to explore how hydrogen energy could contribute to Hong Kong's low-carbon future. Working directly with Towngas professionals, students developed innovative proposals to build public confidence, encourage wider adoption and explore practical applications — from cleaner transport to sustainable infrastructure. More than a competition, it was an opportunity for young minds to contribute fresh ideas to Hong Kong's energy transition.

How Does a 65-Year Heritage Brand Keep Rejuvenating for a New Generation?

Since its establishment in 1959, Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium Limited has grown from a single small store into one of Hong Kong's most iconic retail groups — spanning its 80,000-square-foot flagship store in Jordan, a Travel Essentials concept store, over a dozen specialty stores across Hong Kong, department stores in Singapore, and international property investments. Across more than six decades, Yue Hwa has continually rejuvenated its brand to connect with younger generations while preserving the finest Chinese arts, tea, traditional medicine and cultural craftsmanship. From pioneering Asia's first computerised retail registers in the 1970s to launching its global Online Shop, modern lifestyle lines like Hei Yue (喜裕), the Zeeyue (知裕) cultural platform, and interactive exhibitions at its 5/F Cultural & Arts Gallery, Yue Hwa is actively engaging the youth community to bring "Traditional Meets Modern" to life.

Where Heritage Retail Meets Fresh Commercial Thinking

First Year Joining the HKGCC Business Innovation Challenge (BIC) 2026/27

In 2026/27, Yue Hwa joins the newly evolved HKGCC Business Innovation Challenge (BIC) (formerly the Business Case Competition) for the first time as a Corporate Sponsor. Anchored to Hong Kong's first Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), Yue Hwa's dedicated challenge track invites university students to bring research, creativity and commercial innovation to a real-world business issue — exploring how a beloved heritage brand can engage emerging consumers, embrace digital transformation and capture new growth opportunities. Shortlisted into five finalist teams, participating students will step inside Yue Hwa during the March 2027 Sponsor Challenge Day & Mentoring Sprint for an executive briefing, store tour and direct mentoring with company leaders, before pitching their refined solutions for a HK$10,000 cash award, fast-track interview opportunities and a guaranteed internship offer.

More than a case challenge, Yue Hwa's inaugural BIC partnership gives young talent a direct platform to shape the future of cultural retail in Hong Kong.
