Exploring the Development of the Chinese Mainland’s Aerospace Technology Industry

The delegation met with Hainan Province Governor Liu Xiaoming in Haikou. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, commercial aerospace, medical tourism, film and performing arts, financial services, talent exchange, and the participation of Hong Kong enterprises in Hainan’s development. Hainan and Hong Kong share a solid foundation for cooperation in financial services, cross-border trade, modern logistics, professional services, technological innovation, and international market expansion. The policy advantages of the Port, coupled with Hong Kong’s highly internationalised business environment, can provide strong support for aerospace technology enterprises to explore international markets, introduce overseas capital, and develop cross-border businesses.
The delegation later met with Sun Fulin, Chief Economist of Wenchang International Aerospace City, to exchange views on topics such as Wenchang’s aerospace industry planning and the commercialisation of technological achievements. The two sides explored how to further leverage Hong Kong’s role as an international financial centre and professional services platform, combining this with Hainan’s advantages in aerospace manufacturing, launch facilities, technological R&D, and industrial parks to facilitate the implementation of more concrete cooperation projects.
Hainan Wenchang is an important national aerospace launch base and a key high-tech industrial cluster prioritised by the Hainan Free Trade Port. The delegation visited the Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site to learn about its construction progress, launch mission arrangements, and industrial supporting facilities. The Launch Site is gradually evolving from a traditional single-function launch site into a comprehensive platform integrating rocket launches, satellite services, technology exhibitions, aerospace cultural tourism, and industry investment promotion.
They also visited the Wenchang Space Exploration Centre and the iSpace (Interstellar Glory) Reusable Rocket Factory to understand the development history of China’s aerospace industry, the scientific research achievements behind rocket launch principles, and the entire process of commercial rocket R&D, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and launch services. Afterwards, the delegation visited the Wenchang Aerospace Science and Education Centre to gain a deeper understanding of the latest developments in areas such as aerospace supercomputing, meteorite structures, satellite remote sensing, data processing, and spatial information applications. This activity also showcased Wenchang’s unique advantages in aerospace science popularisation, technology tourism, and the exhibition of major national projects.
Looking ahead, HKGCC will continue to leverage its role as a bridge connecting Hong Kong, the Mainland, and international markets. It will actively promote Hainan’s development opportunities to the business communities in Hong Kong and overseas, encourage more Hong Kong enterprises to participate in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, and drive deeper cooperation between both sides across various fields to jointly explore new opportunities in the development of the aerospace technology industry.
