Registration as an Elector in the Commercial (First) Functional Constituency

28 April 2008

CIRCULAR TO ALL MEMBERS 2 March 2004 Dear Members, Registration as an Elector in the Commercial (First) Functional Constituency As a corporate member of the Chamber, you have a distinct privilege to elect a representative of the Chamber as one of the 60 members of the Legislative Council (LegCo). The LegCo election normally takes place every four years. The next LegCo election will be held in September this year. The current LegCo member representing the Chamber is the Hon James Tien. A Chamber corporate member shall be eligible to register as an elector of the Chamber seat in LegCo, if it has been a full member of the Chamber for at least 12 months immediately before the date of its application for registration. I would like to urge all of our eligible members to apply for registration as an elector with the Government’s Registration and Electoral Office (REO) on or before 16 May this year, if you have not so registered before; or to update your record with the REO, if you have registered before and there are changes in your company particulars or your authorized representative. You may note that your eligibility will cease if you are no longer a member of the Chamber. In this regard, I would like to ask, once again, those members who have not yet renewed their 2004 membership to do so on or before 31 March this year. Your voting right is crucial to the well governance of Hong Kong. If you have queries, please do not hesitate to contact Dr Y S Cheung, Senior Director-Operations, of the Chamber at 2823-1233. Yours sincerely, Eden Woon CEO
