Ref No 009/06 - Business for Clean Air

6 November 2006

A Joint Conference of the Project CLEAN AIR and Action Blue Sky 27 November 2006, 9:00 am-12:00 noon, JW Marriott Hotel I write to invite you to take part in an upcoming high-level Conference to show your support to Project CLEAN AIR and Action Blue Sky. Hong Kong has been positioning ourselves as Asia's world city. As such, Hong Kong must be able to demonstrate that it is a liveable city. Your Chamber has been making efforts to work with other chambers and the HKSAR Government on Project CLEAN AIR. The Clean Air Charter, initiated by the Chamber and the Hong Kong Business Coalition on the Environment (BCE), has reflected the growing commitment of the business sector to contribute to the improvement of the quality of air in Hong Kong. Concurrently, the HKSAR Government has launched the Action Blue Sky Project. On 27 November, The Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang will come to the "Business for Clean Air" Conference organised by your Chamber in conjunction with the BCE, during which he will sign the Clean Air Charter on behalf of the HKSAR Government. The Conference will also feature a "Business Leaders Forum" at which a panel of leading business leaders will exchange views and share experience on clean air policies and initiatives. Over 150 senior officials and businessmen, including representatives from many foreign consulates, will attend the Conference. I attach the event flyer for your reference, and hope to count on your support. The Clean Air Charter has already been signed by over 450 companies and organisations. All 25 members of the Chamber General Committee have signed it, all 28 foreign international chambers have signed it, and the Chief Executive will be signing it on 27 November. If you are not yet an endorser, I encourage you to sign the Charter before the Conference. Further information about the Charter and associated clean-air activities can be found at the Project's website www.cleanair.hk. The Chamber Secretariat (Ms Dannie Lo, tel: 2823 1220; email: [email protected]) will be more than happy to answer any questions about the Clean Air Project. I look forward to seeing you at the Conference. Your presence indicates a vote with your feet and a significant move on your part to not only talk about clean air but to act on it. Alex Fong CEO
