Ref No 007/06 - Join the Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang, Sign the Clean Air Charter!

6 October 2006

I am writing to appeal to you for your support to sign the Clean Air Charter, if you have not already done so. The Clean Air Charter initiated by the Chamber has been well appreciated by the HKSAR Government, and the Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang has repeatedly called on businesses to sign the Charter. To show his support, the Chief Executive will sign the Charter publicly on behalf of the Hong Kong Government at an event which the Chamber will shortly be organising. As of now, over 300 companies and organisations have heeded the call of the Chamber and the CE to sign the Charter, including all 25 members of the Chamber General Committee, all 28 foreign international chambers, and nearly all chairpersons of the Chamber committees. A copy of the Charter is enclosed which I sincerely hope you will endorse. By signing the Charter, you will be joining in the hands of many others who have already signed. Together, we will be creating a united voice to the authorities that we would like them to tackle the issue of air pollution in Hong Kong and in our hinterland with more vigour and determination. Further information about the Charter and associated clean-air activities can be found at the Project’s website at www.cleanair.hk. The Chamber Secretariat (Ms Dannie Lo, tel: 2823 1220; email: [email protected]) will be more than happy to answer any questions about the Clean Air Project. The General Committee of the Chamber consider this to be an important initiative and I look forward to counting on your support to this important initiative! Alex Fong CEO
