Unlocking Business Opportunities in Shanghai

The Chamber was honoured to welcome a Shanghai delegation of 12 distinguished business leaders, led by Shou Ziqi, Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, on 9 September.
The delegation was warmly received by our leadership, including Chamber Chairman Jacob Kam, Deputy Chairman Peter Lam, Vice Chairman Joseph Law, and General Committee members Pansy Ho and Eric Fok, and a number of our China Committee leaders and members.
The two sides engaged in deep, insightful discussions on elevating economic and trade collaboration between Shanghai and Hong Kong. During the meeting, Chairman Shou Ziqi highlighted that the high-quality development of the Mainland’s private sector has entered a new era. Corporate globalisation is no longer just about exploring new markets but has evolved into a strategic international process that requires the precise configuration of global resources to serve global customers. He emphasised that Hong Kong remains the premier platform for Chinese Mainland enterprises looking to “Go Global”, with Hong Kong’s oldest business chamber, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), being uniquely positioned to support this transition.
Chairman Jacob Kam warmly echoed these sentiments and expressed strong enthusiasm for deeper ties. Kam stated that the Chamber is fully committed to strengthening communication and cooperation with the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce. He extended a warm welcome to Shanghai enterprises looking to establish a presence in Hong Kong, reaffirming that the HKGCC stands ready to assist Shanghai businesses with their international strategic expansion plans. The bond between Shanghai and Hong Kong runs deep, and both organisations look forward to working hand-in-hand to unlock greater global opportunities for businesses on both sides.
