As artificial intelligence continues to evolve beyond conversational applications, businesses are turning their attention to Agentic AI - systems capable of autonomous reasoning, planning and decision-making. Against this development in business technology, the Chamber held a seminar titled “Agentic AI – What's Next For AI in Business?” on 23 June, to explore the emerging role of Agentic AI and its implications for business.
The session opened with remarks by Brian Sun, Assistant Commissioner (Data Applications), Digital Policy Office, HKSAR Government, who outlined the Government’s broader policy direction for AI development and adoption. The subsequent panel discussion featured Leonard Chan, Chief Product Strategist, Hong Kong Generative AI Research & Development Center; Calvin Cheng, Founder & CEO, Wizpresso; Herbert Chia, JP, Senior Advisor, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Hong Kong & Macau; and Leo Ma, Chief Scientist APAC, Votee AI, moderated by Timothy Tam, Vice-chairman of the Chamber’s Innovation, Data and Communication Committee.
During the panel discussion, speakers explored the evolution of Agentic AI and its growing significance for business, including how it differs from current generative AI and automation tools and its potential to transform business operations.
The conversation also examined emerging applications of Agentic AI across industries and workflows, as well as the opportunities and challenges associated with scaling deployment across organisations. Speakers shared perspectives on the factors underpinning successful adoption, including data readiness, infrastructure, organisational culture and alignment with business objectives.
The panel further discussed the implications of Agentic AI for workforce transformation and talent development, including how organisations can leverage the technology to augment human capabilities, support learning and enhance productivity.
In addition, participants considered key issues relating to risk, trust and governance, including accountability, compliance, data integrity and oversight. The discussion highlighted the importance of establishing appropriate governance frameworks to support the responsible and effective deployment of AI in business-critical environments.
The interactive audience discussion also touched on the importance of localisation, including the role of local market knowledge, regulatory considerations and multilingual capabilities in supporting AI adoption within Hong Kong's business environment.
6 May 2026

On 6 May 2026, the Chamber organised a visit to the Hong Kong–Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (HSITP), led by Mr Fred Sheu, Chairman of the Innovation, Data and Communication Committee. As a flagship project under the Northern Metropolis, HSITP exemplifies cross boundary innovation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
The delegation was warmly received by the HSITP team, who shared insights into the Park’s strategic vision and development progress. Located at Lok Ma Chau, HSITP forms part of the Hetao Shenzhen–Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co operation Zone, operating under the “One River, Two Banks” and “One Zone, Two Parks” framework, and plays a key role in Hong Kong’s ambition to develop as a global innovation and technology hub.
Members toured key Phase 1 facilities, including the Visitor Centre, a wet laboratory unit, and talent accommodation, gaining first hand insights into how infrastructure, talent, and innovation ecosystems are being integrated. The Chamber thanks the HSITP team for their warm hospitality and looks forward to the continued progress of this strategically important initiative.
