Beyond the Game: How the Sports Economy is Reshaping Retail, Tourism and Consumer Growth

At committee meeting on 12 October, Gallen Tam, founder of EFX24, and Jenny Wan, founder of Bay Pickle, discussed how Hong Kong's sports economy is opening up opportunities for retail, tourism, and an expanding consumer base.

The fireside chat examined changing consumer preferences and the business potential of new sports concepts, including Gym Center's “Sport Lounge + Gym” model, and the growing appeal of pickleball. Speakers also explored how landlords, operators and other stakeholders could work together to bring underused spaces into use for sports, making activities more accessible while supporting commercially viable businesses.

How Effective Digital Marketing Turns Interest into Impact

10 June 2026

At the 10 June committee meeting, Douglas Lau, Industry Lead, Governments and Institutions, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Region, Global Business Solutions of Xiaohongshu, shared insights into how the platform’s lifestyle-driven community and rich data capabilities help brands convert user interest into tangible business results.  He highlighted how search behaviour, user-generated content and nuanced emotional insights can be harnessed to sharpen audience targeting, strengthen seeding strategies and improve conversion rates, offering practical recommendations for Hong Kong marketers looking to increase engagement with younger, experience-driven consumers. The Committee also conducted its elections during the same meeting. Bella Chhoa was elected Chairman, while Alan Lo and Hoi See Song were re-elected as Vice Chairmen, and Freda Ng was also elected as Vice Chairman.

Evolving to Luxury Experiential Powerhouse: Hong Kong’s Next Chapter in High-End Retail

5 May 2026

On May 5, our Retail, Culture, Sports & Tourism Committee hosted an exclusive evening exploring the transformation of Hong Kong's luxury retail landscape at BVLGARI's One Peking Road flagship. The event kicked off with an insightful presentation on APAC luxury trends by Colleen Yu, Founder & CEO of EX-R International. This was followed by a highly engaging fireside chat—expertly moderated by Tammy Wu—which facilitated a dynamic exchange between Colleen Yu and Joe Sun, Managing Director, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan of BVLGARI. Together, they unpacked critical industry themes, ranging from advanced personalization strategies to Hong Kong's ongoing competitive positioning. The subsequent Q&A session generated robust audience participation, allowing attendees to dive deeper into client intimacy, operational excellence, and future retail innovations. Thank you to our exceptional speakers and engaged participants for a thought-provoking dialogue in a truly spectacular venue.
