From AI Experimentation to Enterprise Transformation

HKGCC and INSEAD brought senior executives together to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping decision-making, organisational design and the future of work.

On 28 and 29 August, HKGCC Academy and INSEAD jointly presented the “HKGCC × INSEAD Executive Co-Certification Programme: Strategic AI for Enterprise Transformation”. Designed for senior executives and business decision-makers, the intensive programme moved beyond individual artificial intelligence (AI) tools to examine a more fundamental question: how should organisations be redesigned when artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday work?

Professor Phanish Puranam, INSEAD’s Roland Berger Chaired Professor of Strategy and Organisational Design, explored how AI is changing the way organisations think, decide and coordinate. Sessions considered the development of generative and agentic AI, its implications for jobs and managerial responsibilities, and why AI adoption should be treated as an organisational design challenge rather than solely an information technology initiative.

Kevin Pereira, Managing Director of Blu Artificial Intelligence, connected these strategic perspectives with practical application. Through business cases and hands-on exercises, participants examined how AI can be incorporated into workflows, how human judgement and machine capabilities can complement one another, and what organisations must consider when moving from experimentation to wider adoption.

A central message emerged throughout the programme: successful AI transformation depends not only on the technology selected, but also on the decisions, workflows, capabilities and governance built around it. For business leaders, the challenge is therefore not simply to “use AI”, but to determine where it can create meaningful value while preserving accountability and human oversight.

The programme combined INSEAD’s research-led management perspective with practical insights into enterprise AI adoption, helping participants translate a rapidly evolving technology into questions that matter at leadership level.
